{"id":189,"date":"2008-10-03T07:24:39","date_gmt":"2008-10-03T11:24:39","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2015-02-03T07:49:57","modified_gmt":"2015-02-03T11:49:57","slug":"that-was-interesting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/churchorstate.com\/?p=189","title":{"rendered":"That was interesting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So far I&#39;ve managed to catch the first two debates.&nbsp; The VP debate wins hands down as being the most entertaining.<br \/><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>In spite of her clear lack of experience and recent fumblings with the press, Sarah Palin did a great job at holding her own and not tripping over her words in the debate.&nbsp; I was also similarly impressed with Joe Biden.&nbsp; They both had a few moments of pause or stumbling, and I don&#39;t agree with 100% of anything either one said.&nbsp; But there was an energy, an almost non-threatening friendly energy to the exchange that was at least not uncomfortable to watch as the first presidential debate was. <\/p>\n<p>I don&#39;t believe either of them managed to woo anyone from the other&#39;s camp.&nbsp; We also saw some of the clear differences in policies in areas such as foreign policy, Iraq, taxes, government programs, and energy.&nbsp; There were obvious times when each candidate skirted answering a question.&nbsp; There were times when their answer was to pummel their opponent rather than actually give their stand on an issue.&nbsp; Pretty much the same old political dance.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>Nothing really outstanding came of it, and certainly nothing new.&nbsp; Both camps cry out about lowering taxes yet they also in the next breath talk about spending more on their own personal agendas.&nbsp; I think the American people realize you can&#39;t have it both ways, cut taxes and spend more.&nbsp; So it will undoubtedly be spend more no matter who is elected.&nbsp; It mostly felt like hard line democrat vs. republican party battle that we&#39;ve had the last several decades.&nbsp; Nothing new.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>I&#39;m ready for something new.&nbsp; I guess we&#39;ll have to wait another 4 years to hope for that.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So far I&#39;ve managed to catch the first two debates.&nbsp; The VP debate wins hands down as being the most entertaining.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":9,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[4,7],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-189","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-state","category-us"],"views":1568,"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/churchorstate.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/189","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/churchorstate.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/churchorstate.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/churchorstate.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/9"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/churchorstate.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=189"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/churchorstate.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/189\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/churchorstate.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=189"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/churchorstate.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=189"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/churchorstate.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=189"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
